Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

Comedy Republic

231 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000

General

A floor above, overlooking the hustle of Bourke and Swanston sits our brand new bar. Heroing local distilleries and producers, we’ve curated abar offering that suits the languid summer heat just as much as the blistering winter cold.

Upstairs at 231 Bourke St sits a 145-seat theatre, purpose-built for comedy. Shows are live in-person and streamed online.

The mid-size theatre is small enough to foster and elevate emerging creatives’ work, yet large enough for intimate evenings with Australia’s biggest names.

Access

Unfortunately, Comedy Republic is not currently a wheelchair accessible venue as they are on the second floor and have no elevator. However, please get in touch with Blak & Bright if you have other access requirements.
