Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

The Bogong: Belonging

26 August 2022, 7.30pm-9pm

A featured event in the Byron Writers Festival: Radical Hope program, The Bogong: Belonging celebrates the lived experience in crafted spoken word. A cherished Blak & Bright event, this Arakwal Country iteration presents eight acclaimed First Nations storytellers hosted by Danny Teece-Johnson.

At Brunswick Picture House, join Melissa Lucashenko, Evelyn Araluen, Fiona Foley, Megan Albany, Paul Callaghan, Gary Lonesborough, Mykaela Saunders and Jane Harrison for a cabaret style event that will explore the theme ‘Belonging’.

Feel the love – this event is a feast for the ears, heart and soul.

A Byron Writers Festival x Blak & Bright partnership, curated by Jane Harrison.
