Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

Explore the rich history of First Nations storytelling through a special education event at State Library Victoria.

Blak & Bright is hosting our first-ever education day at State Library Victoria for secondary students in years 9 -10.

Featuring award-winning authors Kirli Saunders (Bindi), Jared Thomas (Songs that sound like blood), Thomas Mayor (Freedom Day) and community and education leader, Edie Wright. Students will participate in panel discussions, author workshops and a special performance of monologues written and performed by First Nations artists.

Tickets will be limited and free to Victorian students, Years 9-10, and their teachers.

This event will be live-streamed from State Library Victoria, click here to watch remotely.
