Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

Skye Cusack

Skye is an emerging Dulgubarra-Yidinji creative writer living in Naarm. But this doesn’t mean that she’s new to writing – in fact, she’s been a copywriter for over eleven years. She has written for organisations like Bank of us, Employment Hero, and TasWriters. In February 2023 she founded her own copywriting and marketing agency, BluSkye Marketing but is now looking to move back into the creative writing world.

You may see her at various open mic nights performing yarns that will make you laugh, cry and wonder why she’s admitting to these things in front of a live audience. She is currently trying to publish her first novel, which is a YA fictional work that speaks about mental health, trauma, being First Nations, and experiencing fatphobia in the medical industry.
