We’re Home

We moved into our The Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas office on Tuesday. It’s wonderful to be in this mega-universe of literary industry, with desks and chairs and the four walls and a door of recognition, acceptance, and expectation.

We’re Home

We moved into our The Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas office on Tuesday. It’s wonderful to be in this mega-universe of literary industry, with desks and chairs and the four walls and a door of recognition, acceptance, and expectation.

As well as the usual ticking off actions for the series of events and special projects we’re working on, there’s the pleasure of cafe meetings and the inspiring drop-by visits from some of our partners and allies. And for me, lunch at my favourite Japanese curry house.

The Wheeler Centre is also home to other key literary organisations including our Festival partners: the Melbourne Writers’ Festival, Writers’ Victoria, Emerging Writers’ Festival, and Australian Poetry; and other wonderful literary organisations Express Media, and Small Press Network.

If you’re an individual, The Wheeler Centre offer Hot Desk Fellowships where you can get a desk and be amongst all the action – working on your own literary dreams. In 2022, there were 21 Fellows who each received a $1,000 stipend. Here’s the link with information about the 2022 Fellowships. If you join the 2023 cohort, come and say hi!
