AWAYE! 30 Years of Bolstering Blak Brilliance

Sunday 13 August 2023, 3pm – 4pm @ The Ideas Salon presented by The Saturday Paper.

Among a truly inspiring line-up of Blak excellence, Blak & Bright are delighted to continue our support of Byron Bay Writers Festival with two events in this year’s Festival.

For 30 years AWAYE! has presented diverse and vibrant Aboriginal arts and culture from across the continent. The most exciting and comprehensive arts program on the ABC Radio National line-up, the AWAYE! team have followed the careers of this continents brightest First Nations arts and cultural leaders.

For this year’s Byron Writer’s Festival, panellists Rhoda Roberts, Rhianna Patrick and Grace Lucas Pennington will explore and celebrate the rise and rise of Bundjulung writing and creativity. The event is hosted by the ever enigmatic AWAYE! presenter Rudi Bremer.

Also, don’t miss out on our other event: on Saturday 12 August one of our most popular panels ‘Sistas are Doing it’ will feature Zena Cumpston, Alison Page, Cheryl Leavy, and chaired by Ellen van Neerven. All published authors with important careers in other disciplines, hear their stories of how they are making a difference in the world, with writing being one of their many tools for change.

Immerse yourself in a world of ideas and stories, and let your imagination run wild this 11-13 August 2023.
