Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

Author Tour: Kirli Saunders

Are you looking to bring an author to your school to meet with students in the new year? 👀

Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival and Booked Out have combined forces to bring three of the country’s most acclaimed First Nations authors of books for children and young adults to schools in 2023. Kirli Saunders (Bindi), Jared Thomas (My Spare Heart) and Lisa Fuller (Ghost Bird) will be visiting Melbourne for three days only.

Some of the most exciting texts in the Young Adult space to emerge in recent years are from First Nations authors. Spanning a range of genres, from speculative fiction to poetry, from memoir to coming of age, these books have a unique voice, quirky storylines and draw on their authors’ lived experiences.
