Blak & Bright First Nations Literary Festival acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the sacred lands on which we work. We pay our respects to the people of the Kulin Nations and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past present and future.

We recognise all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the first storytellers; and that knowledge transfer through storytelling is imbedded in the very DNA of this Country.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this website may contain images, voices or names of deceased persons in photographs, film, audio recordings or printed material.

NAIDOC: Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up @ AESOP

It’s been a while since NAIDOC week but as spring light infuses us with sunshine and growth, it’s about time we shared some elevating feedback from a couple of very special conversations that Jane curated for ‘Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up’ at Aesop Gadigal and Naarm stores.

“A huge thank you for all of your support for our NAIDOC Week Initiatives.

We have had such wonderful feedback from the wider team on the calibre of the conversations our speakers shared; it was a true privilege to listen and learn from them all… We’ve left the process really impassioned to see how we can share these words and stories to more customers in the future.

It was such a pleasure to join both Bebe (Backhouse) and Nayuka (Gorrie) in Melbourne, and only wish I was able to teleport to Sydney to listen to Kirli (Saunders) and Teela (Reid).

They are all such pros!”

Thanks to TJ Garvey for the photos, and how good does Nayuka and Kirli’s words look on those windows!
