Monica Jasmine Karo, a proud Gunai and Gunditjmara woman, is a Melbourne based poet, actor, singer-songwriter and emerging playwright. Having studied a Bachelor of Fine Arts Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts she is continuously expanding on her artistry. Monica is a passionate young artist, currently working on her original play Mothers Country as a part of ILBIJERRI Theatre Company’s BlackWrights program and is a lead actor with ILBIJERRI Theatre’s production, ‘Let Love Rule’ which will be touring statewide this year. Monica brings a raw element by infusing her strong cultural values and personal experiences of womanhood into her writing and poetry.

The Bogong
Come feast on stories at our final event. Traditionally, when the Bogong moth swarmed in the cool regions of Mount Bogong during summer, local tribes would gather to conduct ceremonies and feast on this protein-rich food source.
